Dear Zindagi.... Ek Kursi Chahiye... Wtf !!

Dear Zindagi.... the film....Jug the healer....Kursi...

I liked the film. Its good. Its about looking inwards....looking at our problems and tackling them. Engaging tale of human mind....but only till the time I am not told to look at relationships like furniture. Yes.

Well its a film and comes with a disclaimer but tell me if a relationship between men and women is actually like buying a piece of furniture. A chair...a Kursi... I mean seriously?? Should one go check out prospective partners like Kursi? She fits? He fits? And fits what? Comfortable? Hard? Soft? Cushioned? Like Kursi? I do not know how do the modern girls n boys look at it. May be its a very good idea to check out people before we zero in on someone but it is certainly not my idea. I could never think of relationships like materialistic things. Certainly not Kursies.

And why do we feel that only conjugal relationships between men and women have to be like choosing a kursi. Your relationships with mother, father, brother, sister or even your children who come through that bond with a stranger are not tried and tested like a kursi. Whether one loves or hates, one never goes on trying to find that perfect father or mother or brother or sister or child. We accept the loved ones we have in our life (by blood) and accept them as they are. When it comes to loving a man or woman for a 'relationship' we are aware that this is replaceable... if it works fine, well... if it does not... and so on. That is why acceptance becomes difficult. We all know there is a way out if it does not work. Sadly it is this mindset which is causing 'complicated' relationships and divorces and moving on. I hear these terms a lot these days.

There is neither acceptance nor surrender in conjugal relationships. These are lacking depth and respect. Sex is confused with love. Love is confused with commitment. It is a complete mess when two people are trying out partners to see who fits best. This is happening not just amongst 'single ready to mingle' but even in the 'already married but not committed' people.

What about love at first sight and that going weak in the knees feeling? Are those the things of the past? Hopping into beds, trying out sleeping partners is confused with search of love. If sex could be sole source of happiness whores would have been the happiest.

And yes, a relationship between two people evolves over a period of time. No one can find that perfect partner even after trying many. It is just that after every break up one learns to own up at least one mistake of his/hers and improves upon that.

I would say just shut the external noise and listen to your heartbeat. A flutter will alarm you when love knocks at your door. Say "Dear Zindagi" and do not let it go.

And forget that "Jug head"and ....Forget the bloody Kissa Kursi Ka !!

Disclaimer: The views expressed are personal and not to preach morality. Those who disagree can go on trying Kursies.

Magnificent Mary Kom

#FDFS. This is the first time I have liked a PC movie...for #MaryKom. A woman, a #Manipuri (I have a great connect with that state) the legendary #MaryKom has been documented (more or less) or say immortalized on celluloid. The film has some dialect problem..it lacks continuity but not many would feel that way if they have not been interacting with Manipuris. A great watch for the younger generation, #MaryKom should inspire film makers to bring the stories of many other achievers on celluloid. The high point in the theatre was when our National Anthem is played for Mary Kom's victory (on screen).  People stood up as a mark of respect and sat once the JanGanMan ended...they were wanting some more of #MaryKom. If that is what PC did on screen reliving few moments from a great life, my head bows down to the real heroine of the Boxing rink. MAGNIFICENT,  MARVELOUS, MARY KOM. And I sincerely do hope that the corrupt federation guys get boxed in the head and are knocked out. Take your kids out for an inspiring and entertaining story.

**** Its Four Star Film... Well done Priyanka Chopra!!

Yeh KICK kya hai?

This is the first time I have seen a Salman movie so late..'allah maaf kare'. No, my brotherely affection for him has not lessened its just that there were other issues. Another thing is that I have consciously decided to not rip the films apart in my reviews because I am a wanna be film maker, writer and tomorrow I may land up making a film with same guys in the film fraternity so I avoid critical confrontations. Like for Humpty Sharma ki Dulhania..(kheeekheeekheee) But kahe bina raha bhi nahin jaata, so may be I will consider with "conditions apply" in the future.

Lets KICK start my review... Its a story of a boy who is almost like a video games addict, so he loves banging cars, flying bikes like copters and likes to live life on the edge for that extra KICK. Actually its the same KICK we all are also looking for, so we keep sitting glued to cinema hall chairs enduring his nonsense for quite long waiting for that KICK to happen. Now to cure his KICK disorder Jacqueline enters as a qualified psychiatrist. Fair enough.. n she falls in love with...oops, with his disorder n together they enjoy the chaos for sometime including a song in which she suddenly turns to some yoga poses like parvat asana, then doing some stretches and some trapeze dance moves. That seriously made me think that she should have been shown as a circus artist and Salman would have had got a bigger KICK. (khee khee kheee)

At times the movie looks like a biopic of bhai. High on life, banging carz..... like he said in one of the TV shows that he misses his carefree younger days.... well his character is a 40 year old who is still clinging to his boyhood. But towards the end, the movie actually gives you a KICK when you see the sensitive Sallu bhai shedding a tear for a orphaned little girl suffering from cancer.. Perhaps like his real life he becomes a guardian angel to so many kids suffering from cancer. You fall in love with this super cute boy-man one more time. So so so 'being human'.

I wanted to see more of Nawazuddin Sheikh with Salman.. with more interesting dialogues...for that extra KICK. But aisa nahin hua.. bhai ne ek hi KICK mein us se screen aur film se bahar kar diya. Randeep Hooda looked fine but for his dirty teeth.. he needs dental appointment.

Not much rib tickling comedy in comparison to rib breaking action. My KICK ASS moment of the film.. last shot when Bhai turns up as Police Officer..face to face with Randeep Hooda to deliver the finally KICK to the villains.. Randeep smiles for the first time with "Ladki aur naukri dono toh chali gayee.."

Go watch the film if you are Salman Khan fan. There is Entertainment, entertainment, entertainment. The songs are super, especially the 'Hangover' in Bhai's aawaaz...Well this is a nice Eid gift to his fans... Eid Mubarak.. go check the film out if you have not.

Ashleela???? Ramleela

Just came back after watching #Ramleela. Sanjay Leela Bhansali's trademark styled elaborate sets create drama.. well, looks like he has recycled few from his earlier films. The tone of the film is very confusing..Gujarati or Hindi..modern or ancient. There is a Devdas hangover with Bengali Dhoona and DurgaPuja kind of festivities in rural Gujarat. Yes I spotted some Chhau dancers of Odisha as well..

Hanji, its a story of a progressive, sexy, despo Gujarati damsel who is seeking 'love'...from a hot bod hero who shows off his six packs to all the drooling Rajadi n Sanadi women. The Gujarati cholis look lovely I must say and so do the tattoos and the film has showcased it well. Even on Deepika... surprise! surprise!! In fact if the hero was called Ash the movie would have lived up to its name "ASHLEELA".  I did read some thanks for some adaptation from Shakespare's Romeo n Juliet. Sorry...well I want to say that sorry to Shakespare.. :( Sob sob... I think, I saw him crying in one frame of the movie...

Interestingly, this place in Gujarat has unlimited stock of bullets like Wasseypur. Men n women n those in between.... everyone expresses their emotion through bullets..love, happiness, frustration, anger, excitement... Police does not know of it. Army does not know of it. Forget it... its a fiction. But what the hell was entertaining???? I don't know of it either.. hahaha..

P.S: Don't go by the name Ramleela or UA certificate and take your kids along. This movie won't serve any purpose even if it means imparting some sex-education. One of my daughter's friends saw the movie and said it was 'Porn"... poor child.. I can imagine her state.

Warning:  It's a movie for people fond of Pop-porn not just pop-corn... so enter at your on risk. The star ratings and revenue figures are no guarantee of a good film.

Heroine, Halcut Jawani in Lowcut.....

Just got back after watching yet another Madhur Bhandarkar film that has his signature style...that is portraying dark side of various professions. Dark...because that gives ample room for showing sale-able elements like skin, sex, scandals, which he does in style. His babes look gorgeous. Kareena is absolutely wonderful. The Halkat Jawani  in Low-cut blouses is highlighted on the celluloid. Explicit scenes and dialogues, extra-marital relationships, casting couch, prostitutes, lesbianism, red-light area.....there is enough for the camera to zoom into wrong...oops right places. I wondered if I missed seeing an A rating because I had taken the kids along..like many other parents. No I did not.

Is the censor board sleeping? Has the Censor Board turned liberal...or is it a kind of FDI in Bollywood? What is A rating reserved for now? What is adult content by the way?  It is not even U/A????????? I completely object to the rating part of the film. We can't subject children to watch this kind of mature and adult content.

Every damn woman in the film...the mother, actress, secretary, PR, wife.....lights up a cigarette in every frame. Like my younger daughter commented...."Its a very suffocating movie. There is so much smoking in the movie." I had to agree to that remarkably witty observation. Madhur Bhandarkar made up for all the films made during that earlier ban on smoking in films.

Contrary to speculations and guesses drawing parallels with any real time heroine, I felt it is a bit of mish-mash of all heroines of past and present. There is bit of everyone's life. The film is quite believable even though Madhur claims it to be fiction. A good watch. A rather serious film for adults so just don't take kids along. Don't go with parents either. (:---) I am not joking. As it is there isn't much to laugh about in the film.

Arjun Rampal looks haggard and old but its okay if/as he playing Shahrukh Khan kind. That character suits. :P ...........Randeep Hooda as a cricketer is likeable but the show stealer is Ranveer Shourie, as Bangali film-maker Tapan da. Looks like wife Konkona Sen has done lots of 'homework' on him.....

Hey come on...I never discuss the story so go watch the film. Its worth all its 'booby traps.' That trapped the Censor guys as well.  But where were the censoring babes??

Barfi.....Fresh n Sweet!

So here's Barfi for you all. Subtle and Sweet.........sweet enough. Bengali director Anurag Basu has captured 'Bengal' beautifully. Film is set in picturesque Darjeeling and chaotic Calcutta. The most beautiful are those small bits of childhood moments in the 70s and every little detail is captivating. Every frame engages you to smile or to empathize or shed a tear...again a USP of Bengali directors.

Initially the pace seems a bit slow but then it picks up just as the Darjeeling toy train chugging down those romantic winding tracks. But unlike the toy train you can't get in just about anywhere...you have to stay with every frame to understand the narrative because there are lots of flashbacks. A wonderful script and good performances. Ranbir Kapoor will live up to the RK legacy just like his name. Debutant Ileana is terrific. There is plenty of fun in the second half. Just watch the film..... I am just happy for Barfi is my favorite sweet too.

PS: Could have been edited in the first half to shorten the length a little bit.

Khul gaya Raaz3...the secret of NaRaaz Bipasha

Raaz3 ki baat kah doo toh, jaane mehfil mein fir kya ho...

khul gaya raaz...the secret. It is the most regressive movie in the progressive times. Dirty secret is covered under ample skin show yet can't save the BUTTS.. Between some lousy kisses Bangali Bipasha does some Black magic which supposedly works on her half sister in the film but could not cast a spell on the audience. Frankly, Bipasha's days are over. With clothes or without clothes. And Mahesh Bhatt is going the RGV way. BUTTS could neither BOO nor WOO the audience.

Touted as the spine-chilling horror film, it is stupidly comical in the opening scenes.Frankly, I don't understand why BUTTS needed to create ghosts with black- magic. The only horror in the film is BIPASHA herself. Bipasha treats Hashmi like a slave and stands inches taller to spin him the way she wants. OMG...... Poor #me...between two dirty sisters.
There is very less to tell in the movie so they keep sealing the lips for some visual 'appeal'. (Appeal to some people to please please stick on for the rest of the film.) They also lock lips when they are scared while the audience desperately want them to say something logical. Hash..specially by Hashmi. O boy, Ram Gopal Verma has some serious competition from the 'Boo' Butt camp...

Aey Imraan Hashmi, fine buddy we know kissing is your forte but yaar kucch toh aur kar le. At least add some creativity to ....it. Completely stupid movie.....Waste of kisses oops money. Hyped and well-marketed but please avoid unless of course you love watching Bipasha's biceps.

Shirin-Farhad KTNP- HEALTHY LOVE STORY

A review of SFKTNP..

Its a cute romance between two golu-moluz, Farah aunty and Boman uncle. I love going to Cusrow Baug, the Parsi Colony where the movie is set. It is a perfect locale to shoot a Parsi love story. Everything is so real yet so different from the Bombay chaos.

Farah looks bindaas and quite herself. Loud and straight. A little conscious sometimes but vivacious mostly. Boman is Boman...as good as always plus a little cuter as a Parsi 'underworld' salesman. Love happens at any age and when it does...the chemistry and biology matches in an instant. The issues are generally social science and history. Predictably here too the same. But the chemistry between two healthy 40+ people is so good that you don't miss seeing a bare midrif or six-packs. Of course the 'glow in the dark' lingerie makes up to some extent. (Next RGV might create a ghost story with bhootnie in flouroscent negligees.)

The movie has lots of original Parsis playing almost themselves. So acting is good. There is fun and also Parsi fun. Movie is inspirational for 40+ singles waiting to mingle. Most of all it is a very believable love story. Call that predictable if you want. But do watch it once for here's a real woman...no liposuction, no nose jobs (hopefully) and no silicon implants, no made up cleavages. Gutsy Wo(W)man...Farah deserves the applause.

Dekh lo yaar! ITZ A VERY HEALTHY LOVE STORY. You can take the kids along too.

Ferrari ki Sawaari... :( :(

First day first show.....thats how I like to see movies. So today we set out for a zipping experience in the Ferrari. But wtf.......Safar tha ya suffering.....ah, ooh, ouchhh!!!

Arey story nahin hai toh picture kyon banate ho yaar.....?????? Ferrari bechaari....that could have been an apt title. (for a good story, contact me)

Ferrariiiiiiiiiiiii kiiiiiiiiiiiiii Sawaariiiiiiiiiiiiii.........The movie could have got over in less than 30 films and was better made into a short film. Barely 20 minutes into the super slow movie a child sitting behind me said,"Arey yaar yeh Ferrari kab khatm hogi?"

Ferrarri has no relevance or significance in the movie. It could have been any car and and anyone's. The pace of the movie is so slow that even director got the Ferarri pulled by a 'Baelgaadi'..bullock cart in one of the scenes.

Sharman Joshi...tried acting out the best out of the given lousy script. Boman played himself???? Old Parsi.

Those of you, like me, don't go by the reviews and like testing things themselves must go and check out this dud. Don't complain then......because you were warned, hugh!! :(

:(  Was that Vidya Balan trying out sexy Lavani number??? Waste...tch! Sorry, Wrong number in every way. ^ ^

God is the REAL *Jewel* Thief.

Steve Jobs. Shammi Kapoor. Jagjit Singh.. Bhupen Hazarika. Dev Anand. God is the REAL *Jewel* Thief.........
Someone wrote. It is so good that I have retweeted this. I may risk sounding silly but I must tell you that today I looked for Dev Anand on twitter and then clicked to 'follow'. Don't ask me why. I sat listening to many of his evergreen melodies playing on the radio. And while sitting on my rocking chair, I stared into nothingness thinking about his old movies. There was one I had seen..... Paying Guest...at some one's place, on their Television, a black n white. The hero was handsome and I loved the way he moved his eyes. That was Dev Anand!

Deewana mastana hua dil jaane kahan ho ke bahar ayee.....Bambayee se aya hai babu salona...loved these songs and the movie is one of my favourites....Yes, Bambayee ka Babu.  I remember I had cried so much in the end. Did I say cry? Oh, I am a sucker for sob stories. Sad movies, always successfully extracted tears out of my eyes.

So while a rocked myself to his lilting melodies played on the radio, I wondered what happens to all those Facebook, twitter, Orkut, Google and all other social networking accounts after people are gone? Perhaps these should stay. Perhaps we can still send messages. Perhaps it will reach them.

The real Jewel thief would know the answer. Perhaps!!

Silk touched my soul!!

Just came back from watching this oh-so-talked-about film about Silk. Actually I am speechless, I am overwhelmed by the powerful performance of this woman. Ah, I told you I am going to see the live reactions. Well, the men drooled, cat-called and whistled to the sizzling hot Vidya Balan and I was amazed at her guts. It sure need lotsa guts to pull a role like this.

I loved her expressions and effervescence. Love the dialogue writer for giving her those powerful lines which she compliments to create a very good cinema. The first half is actually titillating and she really is a fantasy for the men...in the movie and outside. When you see her Silk sans makeup, you fall in love with the vulnerable beauty, the innocence that she has portrayed. Silk says bye and forever and something tugs at your heart..a tear wells up. Overwhelming!

Go, let a piece of SILK touch you too....
